Hope City Church Tucson Core Beliefs

We believe...

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory for the ultimate judgment of humanity.

We believe that for the salvation of our fallen humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christ-follower is empowered to live a godly life.

Hope City Church: Who We Are Expressed through 'The Heart Man'

The purpose refers to the heart behind all that Hope City Church strives to do. It is who we are.

Purpose: Cultivate A City of Generosity

Tucson is one of the most impoverished metropolitan cities in the US, yet we understand that generosity is not limited to those with financial wealth. We want to see God work in Tucson as he did in the church of Macedonia, of which Paul said,

"They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity," 2 Corinthians 8:2

The vision refers to where Hope City Church is going. It is what we keep our focus on.

Vision: Discovering Jesus Together Through Life-Giving Communities

God designed us for community and connection. We understand the need to learn and grow up in Christ together. Each individual is uniquely gifted and we can not fulfill God's purpose on our own--we need each other.

The mission is how Hope City Church will accomplish the vision, which is anchored in our purpose. It is what we do.

Mission: Hope City Church will...

  • Welcome and invest in every person and encourage them to follow Jesus well
  • Provide supportive relationships that reach people, especially those not currently connected to God or a church community
  • Equip, train and prepare people for the impact they will have in multiplying the local church
  • Model cheerful generosity to further develop healthy communities

The values refer to the cultural things Hope City Church holds dear. When these things are dishonored we feel it in our throat and our gut.

  • Incomprehensible GRACE
  • Who needs to experience God's restorative power through an unexpected interaction?
  • Imaginative CREATIVITY
  • How are we challenging ourselves to think differently in fulfilling the mission that God is calling us to throughout the city?
  • Increasing GENEROSITY
  • What opportunities is God giving us to demonstrate His love towards others in tangible ways?
  • Insightful PARTNERSHIPS
  • Where is God already at work and how can we join Him there?
  • Intentional GROWTH
  • How effective are we in developing healthy Christ-followers to reach the next generation?
